Sweet Pori / Karthigai Deepam Pori


Karthigai deepam is a festival of lights celebrate in the month of karthigai.... All the houses will de decked up with rows and rows of light and it is beautiful sight...Usually we get rice pori in this season..  Pori is puffed rice which is made in different verity... Pori urundai or sweet pori but i choose sweet preparation which is prepared using puffed rice and jaggery syrup... 



Soon i will post that pori urundai recipe... Here, Sweet Pori / Karthigai Pori is a simple, tasty and traditional dish that we specially prepared on the day of Karthigai Deepam festival...  This sweets remains me and take me to my childhood days...

INGREDIENTS :

Puffed rice pori - 3 cups (heaped)
Jaggery - 1 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tspn (optional)

METHOD :

  • Heat water in a pan and add in jaggery and allow to melts and filter to remove all impurities..
  • In a heavy bottom pan add filter jaggery water and add in cardamom powder.
  • Allow to boil or untill it reaches the hard ball consistency..
  • (When you pour a tsp of jaggery syrup into a cup of water, it should not dissolves, you must be able to make a hard ball out of it..)
  • This is a correct consistency, swich off the flame..
  • Add in puffed rice to it, and mix well.
  • Now transfer it into a plate and rub it with your hands..
  • Sure it should be seperate... 
  • Now serve and enjoy..

PICTORIAL :


Take your ingredients
Add jaggery in a pan
Add some water
Heat it in low flame
Allow to melts
When it completely dissolved
Strain it, to remove all impurities
Again pour it into the pan
Add some cardamom powder
When you pour a tsp of jaggery syrup into a cup of water,
 it should not dissolves
You must be able to make a hard ball out of it
This is a correct consistency
Add in puffed pori
Swich off the flame
Transfer it into a plate
Rub it your hands
It should be seperate
Now it's done and store it in air tight container
Serve
