Nattu Kozhi Rasam / Country Chicken Rasam


Nattu Kozhi Rasam is a healthy and tasty, which i tasted first time in my sister's wedding treat party at Apple tree hotel in tirunelveli.. Brother in law ordered this nattu kozhi rasam for him but we share the soup in two bowls.. It tasted yummy, spicy, delicious and mouth watering one.. I never tasted this type of rasam in my life...



So I plan to make this recipe at home, I went through so many recipes and atlast i found this delicious rasam recipe and tried it out, it comes out very well and hit in my family... This recipe is chettinadu specialty is spicy and traditional rasam with chicken... It is an ideal indian soup, spicy yet not harm one's tummy... I prepared this rasam according to my taste...

INGREDIENTS :

Nattu kozhi / Country chicken - 100 grams (with bone)
Shallots / Small onion - 10 nos
Toamto - 1 (sliced)
Chilli powder - 1 tspn
Coriander powder - 1 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tspn
Salt - as needed
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Water - 3 cups

TO GRIND : 

  1. Whole black pepper - 1 tspn
  2. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn
  3. Fennel seeds / Sombu - 1/4 tspn

  1. Garlic - 7 to 8 nos (cloves)


METHOD :

  • In blender add pepper, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and make it a coarse powder..keep aside.
  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and wash well.
  • In a pressure cooker add shallots, tomatoes, spices powder, turmeric powder, salt and grinded masala mixture..
  • Add in chicken pieces and 3 cups of water..
  • Cover it with lid and whistle it for 3..
  • Inbetween pulse the garlic into coarse paste..
  • When the pressure settles in add garlic and chopped fresh coriander leaves..
  • Have it with rice or soup as well.
  • Enjoy..


PICTORIAL :



Take all your ingredients
Add grinding items into the blender
Pulse it lightly
In a pressure cooker add in shallots and tomatoes
Add in spices powder
Add in powdered spices
Add in chicken pieces
Add in salt
Add in 3 cups of water
Cover and whistle it for 3 
Add some garlic and pulse it
Now open the cooker
Add in crushed garlic
Mix well
Add in chopped coriander leaves
Transfer them into a soup bowl
Yummy...
