Tirunelveli Vaira Maligai Nattu Kozhi Fry


Nattu Kozhi Fry is a tasty chicken fry recipe from the place in sourthen part of the Tirunelveli.. Hotel named Vaira Maligai famous for it's nattu kozhi fry, my family is a big fan of it's taste, when we reach the hotel the chicken fried in coconut oil make delicious aromatic smell (yum yum mmummm....)at the corner of the street... One of my viewers ask me to post this chicken fry recipe (JEYA), so this post just fro you..  Most of the dishes are known for its blends of fresh spices, this one is different... This is usually have no spices and made with few ingredients ..


The important thing is marination should be done 3 to 4 hours.. The chicken is soaked with masala and the flesh of the meat absorb the masala in... As the results the natural flavours of the meat is highlighted.. This recipe uses very few ingredients which are the key to the final taste of the dish.. So it is absolutely essential to use those without any substitution..

INGREDIENTS :

Nattu kozhi / Country chicken - 1/2 kg (3 to 4 leg or breast pieces)
Chilli powder - 1 tbspn
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tspn
Lemon juice - 1 (big, squeeze the juice)
Curd / Thick Yogurt - 4 tbspn
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbspn
Red food colour - a pinch 
Salt - as needed
Coconut oil - for frying

METHOD :

  • Take the chicken pieces and make the slashes on it, keep aside.
  • Now take all the ingredients in a mixing bowl add chicken pieces and mix well..
  • The chicken pieces are well coated well with the masala..
  • Let it rest for 3 to 4 hoursin fridge..
  • Now heat a pan with coconut oil and once it reaches the smoke add in chicken pieces and slow your flame.
  • Cook the chicken in low medium flame, it takes upto 15 mins..
  • Now drain it tissue towel and serve it with lemon wedges..
  • Enjoy...


PICTORIAL :


Take all your ingredients
Prepare your chicken
In a mixing bowl add in ginger garlic paste
Add all the spices powder
A pinch of food colour
Add in thick yogurt
Squeeze your lemon
Little bit of salt (as per your taste)
Mix it well
Add your chicken pieces 
Sure the masala coated well in the chicken
Let it rest for 3 to 4 hours 
(see the chicken absorb the masala)
Heat a pan with coconut oil
Add the chicken pieces and allow to fry in low flame
It takes around 15 mins to cooked
Drain it in a tissue paper
Serve hot with lemon 
Yummy and delicious
