Naadan mutton curry / Kerala style mutton curry



It is a kerala mutton curry is a naadan style recipe, Here the mutton pieces are cooked in a blended mixture of red chilli powder and shallots that gives execallant taste to the dish.Try out this recipe if you want to relish the taste of kerala food.


This will definitely bring you the nostalgic memories of home cooked food...We may also use beef or pork instead of mutton in this recipe but i used mutton. It is an all time favourite of ours and our friends. There are certain restaurants that are so popular for nadan mutton curry in trivandram that my friends always talks about it... 


That was my inspriration to start trying out mutton curry. The combination that we usually have it with briyani or jeera rice. This combination just bels so well that i do not have words to explain....

Preparation time : 15mins
Cooking time : 1/2 hour
Serve - 5 
Cusine - kerala

INGREDIENTS : 

Mutton - 1/2 kg
Onion - 2 (chopped)
Tomato - 1 (chopped)
Shallots / small onions - 25 nos (sliced into big size)
Dry red chilli - 3 (broken)
Coconut paste - 1/2 cup
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Coriander and pudina - few (chopped)
Salt - to taste
Gingelly oil - 4 tbsp
Water - 1/2 cup

METHOD :
  • First sliced shallots and chopped all veggies. 
  • And cut mutton into bite pieces and wash well.
  • In a pressure cooker add oil, dry chilli, chopped onions toss it well untill it became transparent.
  • Then add in ginger garlic paste and all spices and toss well.
  • Now add in chopped coriander, mint leaves, sliced shallots and mutton pieces.
  • Toss well all of it in the oil and atlast add in coconut paste and salt. 
  • Mix well and add in 1/2 cup of water and close the lid and whistled it for 7.
  • When it supside open it and serve it hot...
  • Serve it with briyani or jeera rice....

PICTORIAL :

Take all your ingredients
Sliced onion 
Add in oil and broken red chilli
Add in chopped onions
Toss it well untill it became transparent
Add in ginger garlic paste
Add in all spices
Chopped coriander and mint leaves
Add in sliced shallots
Toss well
Add in coconut paste
Add in some salt
Add in water and mix well
Close and whistled it for 7
Now it's ready
Serve hot
Garnish with mint leaves
Enjoy....
