Homemade Potato Chips


A potato chip or chisp is a thin slice of potatoes that has been deepfried, baked, kettle cooked or popped until crunchy... Potato chips are commonly served as a snacks, sidedish or appetizer...Usually make potato chips at home both fried as well as baked... But i use this recipe deep fried one... soon i posted the baked potato chips so keep watching...


How to make potato chips crispy, salty, spicy, crunchy... And make your own potato chips is tasty and easy alternative to store-bought potato chips...In this recipe you just need to scrub the skin and slice them fry them in hot oil, once done toss the salt and chilli powder well that's it done... You can serve this for coffee or sidedish for variety rice or time pass with a good book... My kids favourite sidedish for Paruppu sadam and Lemon rice for their school lunch box..

Preparation time : 5 mins
Cooking time : 7 to 8 mins per batch

INGREDIENTS :

Potato - 2 (large)
Salt - as needed
Chilli powder - as needed
Oil - for deep frying

METHOD :

  • Select the big potatoes of uniform size... peel the skin and wash well.
  • Dry them on the kitchen towel..
  • Using the slicer slice the potato on the plate or cutting board..
  • Heat the oil for deep frying.
  • Heat till smoking point and maintain the flame in medium heat.
  • Drop the sliced potato one by one in to the oil carefully.
  • Fry it in medium heat to avoid darkness..
  • Let t fry till the sizzling noise ceases and bubbles of the oil settles down.
  • Remove the chips into a kitchen towel.
  • In a small bowl add fried chips and required amount of salt and chilli powder..
  • (You can use pepper powder instead of chilli powder)
  • Toss it along with the chips and mix well.
  • Let it cool thoroughly..
  • Store it in airtight box or serve as needed..
  • Enjoy..


PICTORIAL :


 Take your potatoes
 Peel the skin and wash well
 Now take your slicer
 Slice the potatoes in a cutting board or plate
Heat a pan with oil for fryinh
 Once oil reach the smoking point drop the potato
 One by one into the oil
 Like this (place the heat on medium flame)
 Now leave it for 2 mins
 Lightly mix it with ladle
 It's changes the colour into light brown
 When it's sizzling noise ceases and bubbles of the oil settles down 
 Remove the chips
 Place it in kitchen towel
 Transfer it into a bowl
 Take some salt and chilli powder in a bowl
 Mix well
 Sprinkle it on the fried potatoes
Toss it and mix well.
 Now it's done
 Serve hot
 See how crispy is...
