Aval Puttu / Sweet Poha Puttu

 

Aval Puttu is a simple and delicious sweet snack recipe is prepare during festival occasions... Narmally aval vellam is prepared soaked aval in water and add grated jaggery, mix it and then keep it for neivedhiyam and that can be consumed it in the same day.... 



But preparing of this method can be kept in 2 to 3 days... You can prefer this healthy and delicious snacks for your kids as after they return from school.. So I hope that you must try this recipe and let me know it's turns out from you...

INGREDIENTS :

Aval / Beaten Rice / Poha - 1 cup (I use kerala red aval)
Jaggery - 1 cup
Fresh coconut - 1/2 cup
Cashew - 10 (broken)
Ghee / Clarified Butter - 2 tbspn
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tspn (optional)

METHOD :

  • Dry roast the aval in a pan till nice aroma comes..
  • Then cool them completely in a plate..
  • Grind the aval in a mixer like rava..
  • Take the grinded aval in a bowl and wash well (so that the impurites wash out)
  • Repeat the process two to three times and drain it..
  • Keep the aval in strainer for 15 mins..
  • So it became soft and smooth..
  • Fry the cashew with a tspn of ghee and remove them to a plate.. keep aside.
  • Now heat a pan with jaggery and some water, allow to melt..
  • Then strain it and again pour the jaggery syrup to a pan..
  • Allow to heat, till they became one string consistency...
  • Then add in prepared aval and mix well.
  • Till will take 3 to 4 mins to became thick..
  • Keep stirring and add in fresh coconut and mix well.
  • Now stir it well till they became thicken..
  • It will take 5 to 6 mins and then add in fried cashew and mix well.
  • Now it's done, serve as a dessert..
  • Enjoy...



PICTORIAL :



Take all your ingredients
Dry roast the aval in a pan
Till nice aroma comes out
Remove them to a plate, cool completely
Add them to a blender 
Make it a rava like powder
Transfer them to a bowl
Add some water and rub it with your hands
See they are more impurites
Slowly drain it
Be carefully
Now it's done
Strain it
Let it for 15 mins
Just mix it with fork
Now it became soft and smooth
Look it (correct consistency)
Now it is soft, keep aside
Heat a pan with some ghee
Add in cashew
Roast till golden
Remove it to a plate
In a pan add jaggery
Little water
Allow to cook till they melts
Now it completely melts
Strain it
Again transfer he jaggery syrup to the pan
Allow to cook 
Till one string consistency
Add in prepared aval
Mix well
Add in fresh coconut
Mix it well
Now they mix well
Stir well for 5 to 6 mins
Now it became thick
Add in fried cashew
Give it a good mix
Serve
