Verkadalai Sundal / Peanut Sundal


Navratri is considered to be very special day, to me because I celebrated my Birthday on Saraswathi Pooja every year.. Saraswathi pooja (goddess of learning) is also called as Shree Panjami.. Navartri means first thing is kolu and sundal thats come to our mind.. 


Today we learnt to make a simple sundal recipe that is Verkadalai sundal / Peanut sundal recipe, serve as a neivethiyam for goddess saraswathi... Sundal are simple to make and healthy snacks for kids.. So I hope that you must try thie recipe and let me know it's turns out from you...


Preparation Time : 10 mins
Soaking Time : 3 hours
Cooking Time : 20 mins

INGREDIENTS :

Peanut / Verkadalai - 1 cup
Coconut - 1/8 cup
Salt - as needed

TO TEMPER :

Oil - 1 tspn
Mustrad seeds - 1/2 tspn
Urad dal - 1/2 tspn
Dry chilli - 3 (broken)
Curry leaves - few
Asafoetida - a pinch

METHOD :

  • Soak peanut for 3 hours in a bowl..
  • Drain it and perssure cook it for 3 to 4 whistle with some water and salt..
  • Drain it and keep aside..
  • Heat a pan with oil and add temper with the ingredients given in " TO TEMPER"..
  • Then add in cooked peanut and give it a stir...
  • Now add in fresh coconut and mix well.
  • Transfer them to a bowl..
  • Serve hot and enjoy...


PICTORIAL :


Take your peanut in a bowl
Soak peanut in a bowl for 3 hours
It have been double in size
Add peanut to a cooker with water and salt
Pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistle
When it completely done, drain it
Now check the peanut wheather it mash up
Take all your ingredients
Heat a pan with oil
Add in mustard and urad dal
Allow to sizzle
Add in dry chilli and curry leaves
Add a pinch of asafoetida
Mix it up
Remove it from the heat and add in peanut
Add in fresh grated coconut
Mix it well
Serve hot
