Broad Beans Subzi / Avarakkai Subzi


Today we learn a very simple dish vegetable subzi prepared with Avarakkai / Broad beans which is a great combination with rice, rasam, sambar rice and i also have it with chapathi...Whenever i brought Broad beans i used to make only stir fry. During my school days, One of my relatives used to send us home grown broad beans. They look so fresh and so tender and my mom cooks it the same day and it tastes awesome.. 



When i went to the market i search for cauliflower there but i found broad beans which is fresh in the store.. Then i remember my old days and Brought it to the home.. when i cook it in the same method and the taste is really super like my mom's recipe...And my another broad beans poriyal with siru kizhangu / chinese potato in my blog is, Siru kizhangu avarakkai poriyal..

INGREDIENTS :

Broad beans / Avaraikkai - 250 grams
Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Green chilli - 3 (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Mustard - 1 tspn
Urad dal - 1 tspn
Salt - as needed 
Water - 1 cup
Coconut oil - 2 tspn
Fresh coconut - 1/2 cup

METHOD :

  • Wash and chopped the broad beans finely and keep aside...
  • Heat a tawa with oil and add in mustard and urad dal allow to splutter.
  • Then add in chopped onions, chillies, curry leaves and toss it.
  • When the onion became transparent add in sliced broad beans and turmeric powder.
  • Then toss well in the oil and add in water, salt, give a mix.
  • And cover it with lid and cook it for 10 mins..
  • When it's cooked and water evoporate completely,
  • And in fresh coconut and give a mix...
  • Serve hot with rice or fulka or roti...

PICTORIAL :


 Take fresh broad beans
 Wash and chopped it
 Take your ingredients
 Heat a pan with oil
 Add in mustard and urad dal allow to splutter
 Then add these too
 
Toss well till transparent
 Add in chopped beans
 Sprinkle some turmeric powder
 Toss well in the oil for 2 mins
 Add some water 
 Give a mix
 Add some salt
 
Allow to cook completely
 Now it's cooked
 Add in fresh coconut
 Give a mix
 Done
 Serve hot with fulka
