Traditional Mutton Bone Soup / South Indian Mutton Soup


Traditional Mutton Bone Soup / South indian mutton soup is very delicious, healthy one and my mom which she used to give me when was sick. Usually i love having this types of soups, It is very comfortable food when you are down with throat pain, cold or running nose. Another way that i relish this soup is just the liquid served warm before lunch..


Mutton soup is very common in the southern part of India. this soup is made by cooking mutton bones with flesh along with spices which is very aromatic and fragrant. The spice level is less and can be increased or decreased according to taste and preference.. We may also these types in the country chicken too.. My hubby and my daughter is fond of this souppppssss!!! 


Crushed shallots and garlic gives excellant aromatic flavour to the soup while we having... You are meat eater then you must give this a try and you will keep making it often... Hope you will give it a try and comments about the recipe...

INGREDIENTS :

Mutton - 300 (with bone)
Shallots / Small onions - 8 to 10 nos
Garlic - 1 or 2 cloves
Turmeric powder - 11 /2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tspn
Pepper powder - 1 tspn
Ginger paste - 1 tspn
Salt - to taste..
Curry leaves - few
Water - 2 cups 

METHOD :

  • First, in a blender add in shallots and garlic, grind it into coarse form..
  • Wash the mutton in running water and put in a pressure cooker..
  • Add in grind shallots garlic paste, a spoon of ginger paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder and mix well. 
  • Give a mix and add in 2 cups of water, salt , some pepper powder, and curry leaves..
  • And mix well and pressure cook it for 3 whistles and simmer for 10 mins. 
  • Till the mutton bone pieces are fully cooked....And sure we didn't add any oil but some oil float on the top of the soup...
  • Serve warm in a soup bowl.. 

PICTORIAL :



Take all your ingredients
In a blender add in shallots and garlic
Into coarse form
Add mutton to the cooker
Add shallots garlic paste
Add in ginger paste
Some cumin powder
Add in turmeric powder
Some water
Salt
Add in some pepper powder
Give a mix
Few curry leaves
Close the lid and whistle for 3 
Now it's done, see oil float on the top
(It's mutton own fat)
Serve hot 
Enjoy...
