My and my family went for outing to some places in the evening time. Near that place there is one restaurants in the outside of the it they sales chicken shawarma, grilled chicken and Lemon soda juice. when my son saw this told me to give a try to these recipes. Here, they grill the chicken right in the skewer in front of us, sherd it up and stuff it in pita bread, veggies and serve...
So we decided to taste the chicken shawarma, it's taste is really superb and delicious...Even though it has veggies my son ate it well so i planned to make this at home... I browsed this recipe in web and in my freinds blog. I found this recipe and i give some twist and make this recipe some more different than my friend blog.
I thought of using my knowledge and make a healthy shawarma. This marinate in few ingredients and then saute it in a pan, I use low fat garlic sauce, red pepper sauce, some tomato ketup and pita bread to make it yummy. have it with sliced carrot, cucumber and some veggies... Hope you will give a try and let me know how it turned out for you...
Preparation time : 10 mins
Marinating time : 1 hour
Cooking time : 20 mins
Serve - 4 shawarma
INGREDIENTS :
FOR MARINATING :
Chicken - 500 grams (boneless thinly sliced)
Thick curd / yogurt - 4 tbspn
Lemon juice - 1 tbspn
Crushed pepper - 1 tbspn
White pepper powder - 1 tbspn
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tspn
Oregano - 1 tbspn
Garlic - 6 (cloves chopped finely)
Salt - as needed
Olive oil - 2 tbspn
Butter - 2 tbspn (for tossing)
OTHER INGREDIENTS :
Lebanese pita bread - 4
Yogurt garlic sauce - 1 cup
Red bell pepper sauce - 4 tbspn
Tomato ketchup - 4 tbspn
Onion - 2 (sliced)
Cucumber - 2 (sliced)
Purple cabbage - 1 (sliced)
METHOD :
- Mix all ingredients given for marinating chicken except butter and leave it to marinate for 1 hour.
- Now heat a pan with some butter, add chicken let it cooked and get some colour as well.
- When it became tender, remove it to a bowl.
- Now add sliced veggies and mix along with the chicken..keep aside.
- Take a pita bread, spread some yogurt garlic sauce, and spoon some chicken mix, top with some more sauce.
- Place it on a foil or parchatment papper and roll this really well.
- Serve it with sliced veggies..
PICTORIAL :
Take ingredients to marinate chicken
Sliced up your chicken
Add minced garlic
Add in pepper powder, white pepper and garam masala
Some oregano
Thick curd
Some salt
Lemon juice
Some olive oil
Now done
Give a mix and marinate for 1 hour
Add butter to a pan
Add marinate chicken
Toss well
Keep tossing
When the chicken became tender
Done
Prepare your yogurt garlic sauce
Take veggies in a bowl
Add chicken to that
Mix well
Take ingredients
Now time to assemble.. Take pita bread
Spread some yogurt garlic sauce
Spoon some chicken filling
Some yogurt sauce
Sprinkle some red pepper sauce
Tomato ketchup
Now start rolling
Roll it tightly
Done
Serve with sliced veggies
