Idly chat is crispy, tangy, sweety, quick and gulitfree recipe... I prepare this recipe from my from left over idlis. which I prepared in the morning.. If you have made idlis at home and there are some idli's left then you can immediately try this idli chaat recipe. I don't like to waste food or even one grain of rice.
Similarly, if you have leftover idlis in your hand, you may try many good recipes like idli chat, kaima idli, mumbai style idli fry..... My hubby loved this idli chaat very well. In this recipe, I fry the idlies in coconut oil and I topped it with yogurt, coriander mint chutney, meetha / khatta mitha chutney and top it with some chopped onions, grated carrot and oma podi.....

INGREDIENTS :
Idli - 12 (left over idlies)
Oil - for frying
FOR CURD :
Thick yogurt - 2 cups
Salt - 1 tspn
Sugar - 1 tspn
FOR TOPPINGS :
Coriander mint chutney - 1 cup
Onion - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Carrot - 1 cup (grated)
Chilli powder - 1 tbspn
Pepper powder - 1 tbspn
Gram flour sev / Plain omapodi - 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
METHOD :
- Cut the idli into bite sized pieces. Heat oil in a frying pan, fry the idli on medium flame, till they are golden brown and crisp.
- If you have used too much oil for frying then drain the idlis on paper napkins. Keep aside.
- Take thick yogurt in a bowl, beat it well, then add in salt and sugar, again whip it well. keep aside.
- Now chopped onions, grated the carrot, and then ready your chutneys also.
- Place the fried idlis on the serving plate.
- Then spread a layer of yogurt on the top of idli.
- Put coriander mint chutney and khatta mitha chutney / meetha chutney on top of it.
- Add finely chopped onions on top and also grated carrot too.
- Sprinkled some chilli powder and pepper powder on it....
- Atlast sprinkled some omapodi on it.
- Garnish with choppedcoriander leaves.
- Serve the idly chat immediately...
PICTORIAL :
Left over idlis
Cut into bite sized pieces
Cut all the idlis
Heat oil and drop the idli pieces
Fry it on medium flame
Fry till golden brown and crisp
Drain the fried idlis on the paper napkins
Ingredients to make yogurt
Take thick yogurt in a bowl
Add in some salt
Some sugar
Beat it well
Keep aside
Now ready to plated
Place fried idli on serving plate
Spread a layer of curd on top of idli
Like this
Then spread some coriander mint chutney
Then sweet meetha chutney
Then add in finely chopped onions
Grated carrot on it
Sprinkled some chilli powder
Some pepper powder
Sprinkled on it with your hands
Now add some chopped coriander leaves
