Fish cooked in traditional kerala style using coconut and coconut oil. This fish curry is one of the most sought after items in my friend's home in kerala. Fish curry are prepared in many ways. Here we Can try to make traditional fish curry using coconut. It is a simple curry even batchelors can do it....
This one has ginger in it, so it has a mild ginger flavour which was pleasant in this curry. I used a fish in this and it didn't have much bone at all, So this curry was really good. For a tasty fish curry, there should be a perfact amount of salt, spice and tart in it....So hope you may try this yummy fish curry at your home....

INGREDIENTS :
Fish - 250 grams (any firm fleshed fish)
Fresh coconut - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Ginger - 1/2 tsp (grated or paste)
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Tamarind - a lemon size (soak in water and extract pulp)
Shallots / small onion - 4 to 5 ( chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Coconut oil - 3 tsp
Salt to taste
METHOD :
- Take coconut and turmeric in a blender and puree till it is smooth.
- Add in pureed coconut to a kadai.
- Add in ginger, chilli powder, salt, tamarind pulp, and some water. Mix well.
- Bring to boil, add in fish pieces and simmer for 8 to mins till the fish is cooked.
- Now making tempering, heat a pan with some coconut oil and cracle in mustard, shallots and curry leaves.
- Pour this over the curry and mix well. Cover the pan with a lid till serving.
- Serve with rice.
PICTORIAL :
Take all ingredients
First add coconut to blender
Add in turmeric powder
Puree them
Add it to a kadai
Wash the blender with some water and pour it into the kadai
Add in ginger
Chilli powder
Add in tamarind pulp
Some salt
Mix well
Bring it to boil
Add in fish pieces
Cook the fish is tender
Curry done
Heat coconut oil in a kadai
Add in mustrd allow to cracle
Add in chopped shallots
Some curry leaves
fry it till transparent
Pour this over the curry
Mix well
Serve
Enjoy.....
