Kara paniyaram are the simple recipe of evening snacks. I am a big fan of these paniyarams ..... that too from my mom's hand... But after marriage, when i tried making, Some times It will get it right but mostly flop.... That's because i will not be accurate measurements....
But now - a - days i made it perfect with correct measure with i use appam batter and chopped onions for the south indian breakfast recipe. So you also try this recipe and let me tell how it comes out....

INGREDIENTS :
Appam batter - 1 cup (click for this recipe)
Oil - 2 tsp
Onion - 1 (chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Chilli flakes - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt - as needed
METHOD :
- Make appam batter should be coarse paste and set aside for 2 hours.
- At a moment you are going to make, heat a pan with oil, add mustard allow to splutter and add urad dal.
- Then add chopped onion, curry leaves and chilli flakes and saute it well for 5 mins. Untill it became transparent.
- Then pour the fried onions into the appam batter and add in salt, turmeric powder and mix well.
- Pour into the greased hollows of paniyaram pan and add some oil. Cook in a medium flame.
- Cook on both side to golden brown and serve hot with coconut chutney.....

Ready all ur ingredients
Heat a pan with oil
Add mustard and add in urad dal
Then add in chopped onion and curry leaves
Then add in chilli flakes
Saute it well untill raw smell is gone
Pour it into the appam batter
Add in salt
Turmeric powder
Mix well
Prepared ur paniyaram pan
Pour the batter into greased hollows
Then add in oil
When it cooked turn off it
Cook well on both sides
It's ready
Serve
With coconut chutney
