Potato Kurma For Poori


Potato kurma is a fantastic side dish for chapati, poori or any indian flat bread. It is also very easy to prepare. It is a versatile dish that goes well even with ghee rice, peas pulao and many other flavoured rice as well. A classic south indian break fast side dish, Potato kurma makes for a delectable combination with ragi poori that i have already post in my blog. 


I learn this potato kurma recipe from my friend And she is a awesome cook. Also this is her family favourite kurma for poori. To make this south indian style potato kurma, you need small potatoes, coconut, onion, tomato, and spices powder. Try this rich creamy and finger licking restaurant style potato kurma recipe for chapathi also. Today let us learn how to make potato kurma following our step by step easy potato kurma recipe.

Cooking time : 20 mins
Serve - 4
Recipe - south indian

INGREDIENTS :

Boiled potatoes - 2 (large)
Onion - 1 (chopped)
Tomato - 2 (small, chopped)
Green chilli - 3 (sliced)
Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Coconut oil - 3 tsp

TO GRIND :

Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Shallots / small onion - 6
Cashew - 5
Feenal seeds - 1 tsp
Ginger - 2 small pieces
Garlic - 1 cloves

METHOD :
  • Grind the items that given in the ingredients " TO GRIND" into smooth paste. keep aside.
  • Heat pan with oil add in chopped onion and chillies and fry it in the oil for 2 mins.
  • When it became transparent add in chopped tomato and little bit of salt and fry it till mushy.
  • Then add in chilli powder, garam masala powder and grinded masala and toss it well. Till raw smell is gone. 
  • Then add in mashed potatoes, chopped coriander leaves and toss well.
  • Now add in some water and mix well. check the salt as per your taste. 
  • When it became gravy consistancy off the stove and serve it with soft poori, chapathi and or any other rice.
  • Click ragi poori to view.

Take your ingredients
Grinding items
Into smooth paste
Heat oil in a pan and add in onuion and chillies
Toss it well untill it transparent
Add in tomatoes
Add in salt
Toss it well
Add in spices powder
Grinded paste
Then add in mash potatoes
Chopped coriander
Toss well
Add some water and mix well
Now it's ready
Serve
