Meetha chutney is almost needed in all chaat recipes to let to manage spices subside and give tangy taste to the recipes. chaat is incomplete without meetha chutney / khatta mitha chutney and green chutney which play a key role in elevating the the taste of the chaat.
This sweet and sour chutney can be used as a condiment to enhance the flavour of the dish or dip for almost all indian snacks. It is most popular in mumbai road side shop. It can be drizzled over the chat items like - dahi vada, sev poori, bhel poori, samosas, idly chaat.....

INGREDIENTS :
Grated jaggery - 3 tbspn
Roasted cumin powder - 1/4 tspn
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tspn
Mustard - 1/4 tspn
Asafotida - 1 a pinch
Tamarind extract - 5 tbspn
Oil - 1 tbspn
METHOD :
- In a pan add oil, mustard, allow to sizzle..
- Add in cumin seeds, tamarind water, asafoetida, cumin powder, grated jaggery, and mix well.
- Bring to boil for 5 mins, when the jaggery melted and the chutney should became thick consistency.
- When oil floats on the top, then off the stove and the khatta mitha chutney / meetha chutney is ready to topping.
PICTORIAL :
Take your ingredients for chutney
Heat a pan with oil
Add in salt
Add in asafoetida
Add in roasted cumin powder
Mix well
Add in jaggery
Mix well
Allow to boil
Keep in simmer till the gravy became thick
Now it's done
Transfer them to a bowl
Use in all your chaat items
