Ellu (sesame seeds) Thuvaiyal


Ellu thuvaiyal is a standard sidedish for puliogare... You need to add a spoonful of thuvaiyal for the whole dish as a sidedish... You can also add a tspn of thuvaiyal on a plain white rice and a spoon of gingelly oil and mash it well befor eating a meals... My mom tells it is good for healthy... When i googled, i found that sesame seeds are high iron, calcium, protein and magnesium....It is truely amazing how our ancenstors have developed recipes with most nutritious ingredients... Without anyone telling about it, Isn't it ?...


I match this thuvayal with Pumpkin kathi and pototo fry...You must give a try and comments about the recipe...

Preparation time : 10 mins
Roasting time : 5 to 7 mins
Recipe : Side dish

INGREDIENTS :

Black ellu / sesame seeds- 4 tbspn
Coconut grating - 3 tbspn
Dry chilli - 6
Tamarind - 1 small piece
Garlic - 1 pearl
Gingelly oil - 1 tspn
Salt - as needed
Water - 2 tspn
Curry leaves - few

METHOD :

  • Put the sesame in a kadai and dry fry till it crackels..
  • Now in same kadai add a spoon of oil and fry Items (coconut, chilli, curry leaves)..
  • Till light brown and off the stove... Let it come to cool.
  • Now add to the blender allong with garlic, salt and tamarind..
  • First grind into powder and add in one or two spoon of water...
  • Grind it into thick dough consistency..
  • This will go well with puliogare, lemon rice can also be had during travel time...


PICTORIAL :


Take your ingredients
Roast sesame seeds till crackle
Add in coconut, chilli, curry leaves
Aspoon of oil
Roast well
Till it became brown then off the stove 
and let it be cool completely
Add to the blender
Some salt
Tamarind
One garlic
Then grind into powder
Add in a spoon of water
Grind again like dough
Transfer it into the bowl
Serve ...
