My Village Fish Kuzhambu


Fish Kuzhambu.. is this my favourite non - veg post.. In my school days I remember the memorable moments, amma makes best meen kuzhambu and I didn't tasted better than hers... I loves my mom's meen kuzhambu, even now I visit my mom's house the first thing I ask is fish kuzhmbu and fish fry.. 


Nowadays my son ask me (as same as) to prepare this fish Kuzhambu every wednesday.. This is a village fish kuzhmbu from tamil nadu (Tirunelveli).. There are different style of fish kuzhambu but this is a easy version of making south indian style.. It is spicy, tasty, delicious, yummy fish kuzhambu with white steamed rice. (Makes ushhh shoooo and running nose while you having it)

Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serve - 5 to 6

 INGREDIENTS:


Fish - 1/2 kg (Barracuda)

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Tamarind - 1 ball size (dipped in the water)
Salt to taste

TO TEMPER :


Mustard - 1 tbspn

Chopped small onions - 5 (chopped)
Tomatoes - 1 (chopped)

Green chilli - 4 (slit)

Curry leaves - few 
Gingelly oil  - 6 tspn

FOR ROAST & GRINDING:

  1. Red chilli - 15 nos (adjust to your taste)
  2. Coriander seeds - 3 tbspn
  3. Jeera seeds - 1 tspn

TO GRIND :
  1. Small onions  - 10 nos 
  2. Fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup

METHOD:


  • Take grinding item for in a frying pan and remove them to a blender and make it into fine paste.
  • Take shallots and coconut into a blender and grind them into fine paste.
  • Take a bowl on it add grinded masala paste and add in salt, turmeric powder and extract tamarind water..
  • And mix it well.. keep aside
  • In heat a kadai add oil mustard, allow to splutter..
  • Add in chopped onion and curry leaves..
  • Fry them till brown now add green chilli and tomato on it..
  • Mix well and it will be became mushy.
  • Now add the masala mixer on it.. mix well.
  • Allow it boil for 5 mins.. Now add fish fillets on it..
  • Cooked it well, untill the fish became soft and cooked.
  • When the kuzhambu is ready the oil floats on the top.
  • Now the wonderful fish curry is ready its best match with the white rice and fish fry.

 Take all grinded ingredients
 In a pan add chilli, coriander seeds, 
cumin seeds and roast lightly
 Add to the blender
 Make it into fine paste
And grinded this too 
Now the masala is ready
 Take all your ingredients
Add masala in a bowl 
Add in salt
 
Now add turmeric and tamarind water 
Now mix it
Add oil and mustard in a kadai
Allow to splutter it and add chopped shallots
Add in sping of curry leaves
 Add in tomatoes and green chilli
 Pour the masala mixer on it
 Allow to boil
 Clean the fish
 when it boil add fish 
 When the fish are cooked 
and oil should be floated on the top
 kuzhambu ready


Serve hot with white rice
