Here the fresh grated coconut is grinded with red chilli, garlic, tamarind, roasted gram dal and salt, into a smooth paste and they are temper with shallots / small onions which gives a smooky flavour to the chutney...

INGREDIENTS:
TO TEMPER :
Gingelly oil - 2 tspn
Shallots / Small onion - 3 (chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
Urad dal -1/2 tspn

Curry leaves - few
FOR GRINDING:
Red chilli - 10
Fresh coconut -1/2 cup (grated)
Garlic - 1 (clove)
Tamarind - a small piece
Tamarind - a small piece
Roasted bengal gram - 2 tspn
Salt - as needed
METHOD :
- Take all your ingredients ready..
- Take a blender add in dry chilli, garlic, tamarind, salt, grind them into a coarse powder..
- Add in fresh coconut and little water, make it a smooth paste..Keep aside.
- Heat a pan with gingelly oil, mustard and urad dal, allow to crackle..
- Add in chopped shallots and curry leaves, fry till golden brown..
- Now add in grinded chutney and some water..
- When the chutney started bubbles at the sides of the pan..
- Switch off the flame, transfer them to a bowl..
- Serve with idli, dosa..
- Enjoy..

Mix it well
Now it bubbles at the sides of the apn
Switch off the flame
Transfer them to a bowl
