You can definitely make nethili fry at home too with simple ingredients and spices which is exactly what I am going to share today... This is carfully prepared balanced the flavous perfectly, honestly, takes practice to perfect taste.... The amount of heat, salt and other ingredients you need to use will alos depends a lot on personal perference...
When the fish gives awesome smell by adding curry leaves on them while frying....So I hope that you must try this recipe and let me know how it's turns out from you...
Marination time ; 1/2 hour
Frying time : 5 mins
Serve - 3 to 4
INGREDIENTS :
Anchioves / Nethili fish - 250 grams
Curry leaves - few
Oil for frying
FOR MARINATION :
Red chilli powder - 2 spn
Ginger garlic paste - 1 spn
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red colour - 1 pinch
Salt - 1 spn
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
METHOD :
- Clean the fish, pat dry and place it on a bowl.
- Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and add in fish..
- Mix well and keep aside for 1/2 hour for good marination.
- Drop it one by one in the hot oil..Keep it for 5 mins..
- Fry in small flame in batches (4 to 5 fish at a time).
- Untill it became crispy golden brown.(Use coconut oil for the best results)
- Flip it and add in curry leaves and mix well..
- Drain it and place on kitchen towel to absorb extra oil.
- Now the anchovies fry is ready to serve with chopped onions.
PICTORIAL :
Take ginger garlic paste in a bowl
Add in Chilli powder
Then a pinch of red colour
Turmeric powder
Then salt
Squeeze some lemon juice
