Tomato onion thokku is one of the fontest dish from my childhood. Every family known to me enjoys this dish with chapathi / dosa / idli. garlic is added to thokku enhance the flavours which brings out a very nice taste also. This thokku is perfect for travel and can be store for 2 days.

INGREDIENTS :
Onion - 3 (finely chopped)
Tomato - 4 (finely chopped)
Garlic - 20 (finely chopped)
Red chilli - 4 (broken)
Chilli powder - 3 spn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 spn
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Mustard - 1/2 spn
Urad dal - 1/2 spn
Coriander leaves - as needed
Sugar - 1/2 spn
Salt - 1/2 spn
Oil - 4 spn
Water as needed
METHOD :
- In a kadai heat oil and add mustard, urad dal, broken chilli and chopped garlic.
- Toss them well in the oil, untill it became light brown.
- Now add chopped onions, and toss well till it became transparent.
- Then add in chopped tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
- Add in some water and toss it for 3 mins, untill it became mushy.
- Now add in sugar, asafoetida, coriander leaves and saute it well.
- Then the Tomato onion thokku is ready.
- I best match with the dosa, idli and chapathi. Especially neer dosa.

Take your ingredients
Add in mustard, urad dal
Broken chilli
Chopped garlic
Toss them for 2 mins
Now add onions
Toss them till transparent
Add in tomatoes
Turmeric powder
Add in chilli powder
Salt
Toss them well for 3 mins
Sprinkle some water
Add in sugar
Asafoetida
Add in chopped coriander leaves
Saute it for 2 mins
Then it's ready to serve
