White Fish (Kuthippu Meen) Kuzhambu



Preparation time - 15 mins
Cooking time - 30 mins
Serve - 5 to 6

INGREDIENTS:

Fish - 1/2 kg (White fish / kuthippu meen)
Mustard - 1 spn
Shallots /small onions - 5 (chopped)
Tomato - 1 (sliced)
Green chilli - 3 (sliced)
Tamarind - 1 ball size (dipped in the water)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 spn
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - few
Gingelly oil  - 5 spn

FOR GRINDING :

  1. Red chilli - 10, Coriander seeds - 2 spn (fry them in dry and grind into fine paste)
  2. Scrapped coconut - 1/2 cup, Shallots - 7 (grind into fine paste)


METHOD :

  • Heat a sand pot with oil, then add in mustard, allow to crackle.
  • Then add in chopped small onions and curry leaves and fry them till brown.
  • Add in a spoon of chilli paste, green chillies, chopped tomato and toss well untill it becamd mushy.
  • Now add masala items which had prepare it at the first.
  • Add in turmeric powder, tamarind water and also add in some salt.
  • Then mix it evenly and let bring them to boil. 
  • Add in cleaned fish fillets one by one to the pot.
  • Now close it for 15 min in slow flame so that the fish cooked soft.
  • Then the meen kuzhambu is ready to serve.


PICTORIAL :


Take all your ingredients
Heat oil in the sand pot
Add in mustard
Then chopped onions
Some curry leaves
Toss them well
Add a spoon of chilli masala on it
Sliced chillies
Add in sliced tomatoes
Toss well untill it became mushy
Add chilli and coconut paste 
Then turmeric powder
Thick tamarind water
Add 3 spoon of salt
Allow to boil
Drop the fish fillets into the gravy
And all the fish
Cover it with lid for 15 mins
The fish is cooked well and off the stove untill the oil float it on the top 
It's ready
Serve it with white rice

I tried this meen kuzhambu today ..... And i must say it was delicious to have. Before marriage, In my amma's village this indian style fish huzhambu is made by my grandma.. and my family members liked it. They were more than 25 members in my amma's family and they sit together and enjoy the kuzhambu, there is no words to say the experience that is really enjoyable days for me......
