Medhu paruppu bonda


Preparation time : 1/2 hour
Frying time : 5 - 6 mins
Serve - 5 to 6
Item - snacks

INGREDIENTS :

Shallots / small onion - 7 (finely chopped)
Curry leaves - as needed (chopped)
Oil - for frying

FOR GRINDING :

Yellow - split - peas / pattani paruppu - 1 cup (soaked for 1 hour)
Urad dal - 1/2 cup
Appam batter - 1 cup
Asafoetida - 1/4 tspn
Red chilli - 2
Garlic - 2
Salt - as needed

METHOD :

  • In a blender add all the grinding items except appam batter and grind them.
  • Now add appam batter in it and again grind it into a coarse paste.
  • And now transfer it into a bowl and add chopped onions and curry leaves together and mix it well.
  • Heat oil in a pan, and dip your hands in water and take a small portion of dough, and drop into the heated oil.
  • And fry them in golden brown colour and transfer into a tissue papper for absorb extra oil on it.
  • Now the methu paruppu bonda is ready to eat.
  • Serve it with tea or coffee.

Take your ingredients
In a blender add soaked urad dal
Splited peas
Asafoetida
Add in chilli 
And add salt
Then garlic
Grind them
Now add in appam batter on it
Again grind into coarse paste
Transfer into a bowl
Take these items
Mix them into the dough
Now the dough is ready
Heat oil in a pan
Drop the hands in it
Take a small portion of dough 
Drop in to the oil
Bring to fry
 Till fry them into light brown
Serve it with coconut chutney

This is very easy bonda recipe and this is the popular fried snack from the mysore cuisine. These are round fritters made from urad dal and split peas. The first time i made mysore bonda, they became too soft to eat and the taste is really unforgettable. It is the best evening snacks, they are best paired with coconut chutney.
