Onion Pakoda / Onion Fritters


Onion pakoda is a popular snacks recipe which can be prepared in just 10 to 15 mins.. It is a popular mumbai street food.. I love onion pakoda hot with a cup of tea or coffee...This is a crispy, delicious evening snacks prepare in most south indian homes and is a popular street food too.




Easy to prepare when you have a sudden guest or friend at home and you want to make them feel special. These makes a good tea time snack especially during the cold winters. The perfect pakoda recipe that will surely rob your heart.  



So try this recipe at home and let me tell how it's comes out.....

INGREDIENTS :

Onion - 4 (sliced)
Gram flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Chilli powder - 1 tspn
Cumin powder - 1/4 tspn
Asafoedita - 1/4 tspn
Red colour - 1 pinch
Salt - 1/2 tspn
Water - 2 tbspn
Oil for frying

METHOD :

  • Add sliced onion in the bowl, and squeeze the onion a couple of time to get moisture.
  • Now add gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, red colour, and salt.
  • Then again squeese the onions a couple of time to begin releasing moisture. Set this for 5 mins.
  • You get a dry mixture now. Sprinkled 2 tbspn of water each time and mix the flour to make a moist dough.
  • Do not pour the water, just sprinkled to get the dough right. 
  • And the mixture must be tight and not soggy or dripping otherwise they soak up lot of oil and will not turn crispy.
  • Heat oil in a pan till hot and make pakoda by drop them in the oil and fry stirring occasionally for even frying.
  • Fry them till golden and drain them on an absorbent papper.
  • Serve hot.

Take your ingredients
Squeeze the onions a couple of time
See how it is
Add in gram flour
Rice flour
Add in cumin powder
Salt in
A pinch of asafoetida 
Chilli powder
A pinch of red colour
Mix everything well. you get a dry mixture now 
Sprinkle 2 tbspn of water
mix the flour to make a moist dough
The mixture must be tight 
Heat oil in a pan
Drop them in oil
 Fry them till golden and drain them in a tissue paper
 Serve hot
