Ulunthan kanji is very delicious and easy to prepare, It's too good for the growing children and also a healthy breakfast recipe since from old ages.. It is semi liquid bowl which is sufficient for breakfast.. We use salt and coconut milk makes the texture nice and good..
But some use sugar, jaggery, to make the bowl sweet... My sister's favourite one, ask mom to prepare once in a week, But mom serve it with coconut chutney and ulundu vadai.. So I hope that you must try this recipe and let me know it's comes out from you...

INGREDIENTS :
Splited urad dal - 1/2 cup
Rice - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn
Garlic - 6
Salt to taste
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Water - 3 cup
METHOD :
- Combain the rice and dal and washed it over.
- Add it to the pressure cooker and pour some water.
- Then add salt and cumin seeds, bring it to boil and add garlic to that.
- Now close the cooker and whistled it for 2.
- When the cooker suppress open it and mash it with ladle and keep aside.
- Now in a blender add coconut and extract coconut milk.
- Pour the coconut milk in to the cooker along with the dal mix.
- And mix it over, now the urad dal kanji is ready to serve.
- Serve it with coconut thogayal and pickles.
PICTORIAL :
Take ur ingredients
Combain rice and dal
Wash it well
Add it to the cooker
Pour the water to that
Add in salt
Cumin seeds
Bring to boil
Now add garlic
Whistled it for 2
When it suppress open it
Mash it well with the ladle
Add coconut to the blender
Make coconut milk and it is thick
Pour it into the cooker
