Tapioca stir fry (maravalli kizhangu fry)



Tapioca called as maravalli kizhangu or kappa kizhangu is the regular part of diet in kerala cuisine. They make chips, curry, adai, vadai and kootu with the tapioca. Tapioca stir fry with a cup of tea is the best snacks for evening time. 


My hubby favourite one,  and my favourite is plain boiled Tapioca with fish curry (Meen Kuzhambu from kerala cuisine).. taste is divine, yum  yum  yummy... So plz try this recipe and comments how it's comes oput from you...



Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time  : 7 mins
Serve - 4

INGREDIENTS :

Tapioca - 3 or 4 (cut into big size)
Coconut - 1/2 cup (grated)
Salt - as needed
Water - as needed

TO TEMPER :

Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Shallots - 5 (chopped)
Curry leaves - few

METHOD :

  • Peel the skin of tapioca and cut into big medium size. Wash well.
  • In a vessel add tapioca, water, and salt and cooked it.
  • (Add more water to boil so it became soft)
  • Untill it became soft, when its cooked, strain the water from it and set aside.
  • Now in another kadai add oil, mustard seeds and allow to crackle.
  • Then add urad dal, onion, and curry leaves and saute it well.
  • Add in boiled topioca and also add grated coconut to that and toss well.
  • Now serve with a cup of tea..


PICTORIAL :

Take your temper items
Take tapioca
Cut into medium pieces
Add tapioca in a vessel and add water
Then add in salt
Brink to boil
When it's cooked 
Strain the cooked tapioca
In a kadai add oil
Add in mustard 
Add in urad dal
Then chopped onions
Some curry leaves
Then add cooked tapoica
Some grated coconut  and toss well
 Now it's done
