How To Cook Basmati Rice For Dum Briyani


Basmati rice is one of the best known varieties of rice out there. The word basmati comes from the sanskrit word ' vasmati ' which means "fragrants" or "aromatic". Is this possible at home ? definitely the cooks rice should comes out well with good long grain looks...... so use this method to all dum briyani, pulao, fried rice etc!!


When the rice cooked in whole spices, fresh cilantro and mint leaves the taste is excellant when we use in the Dum briyani recipes... 

Preparation time : 1/2 mins
Cooking time : 15 mins 
Item : cooked rice for pulao, biryani
Recipe Category - Basic

INGREDIENTS :

Basmati rice - 1 cup
Cinnamon - 2 small sticks
Cloves - 8
Fennel seeds - 1/4 spn
Cilantro as needed
Mint leaves as needed
Salt - 1 1/2 spn
Coconut oil - 2 spn

METHOD :

  • Use best quality indian basmati rice you can find and afford.
  • Stock the rice for 1/2 mins, In a pan add water, and all the whole spices too that
  • Now add in salt, cilantro, mint leaves, oil and let them to boil.
  • Now drain the rice and add to the boiled pan.
  • Let them to boil for 15 mins and cook it on high flame .. keep a eye on it...
  • The aroma flavour comes out from it, so it should make the briyani good.
  • Now the rice is 3/4 cooked when you taste it should have a bite.
  • Atlast drain it and cooked basmati rice is ready to make dum briyani, fried rice and pulao.

  PICTORIAL :


Take all your ingredients
Take rice in a bowl and soak it for 1/2 hour
In a pan add water
Add in cinnamon sticks
Add in cloves
Some chopped cilantro
Few mint leaves
Add in Salt
Some coconut oil
Bring it to rolling boil
Add in soaked rice
Cook it on the high flame and keep eye on it
Now the rice is look length and 3/4 cooked
Drain it
 Now It's ready to make Dum Briyani
 Perfect rice is soft and fluffy, 
which is perfectly seperated
It's done for the process
